The book of Joshua (in the Bible) is one that has surprised me right and left. As I read through it, I've noticed just how many times God tells His people to be strong and courageous, to not be discouraged for He is with them wherever they go.
"...I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Be strong and courageous...Be strong and very courageous...
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be
with you wherever you go. Only be strong and courageous!"
" ~chapter 1 vs 5-7, 9, 18
"And the Lord said to Joshua, 'Today I will begin to exalt
you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am
with you.'" ~2:7
"Then the Lord said to Joshua, 'Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged.'" ~8:1
I still have 16 more chapters to read, and can't wait to see how many more times God endorses His promises! I believe our Father is trying to tell us something. Can you guess what that might be?
Be strong and courageous. I am with you.
And if God keeps telling us to remember that, don't you think we should? When circumstances don't play out the way we thought, when trials come to test our faith, when relationships around us fall apart, or when finances don't seem to come in as fast as necessary, why do we turn to grumbling just like the Israelite's? In the end, they had to wander in the desert for 40 years because of their attitude and disobedience. Do you want to turn out that way? How about we start changing our attitude, looking up to the Son, letting God fill us with peace and joy, and continuing to do what He has called us to do, always remembering His faithfulness and promises! Let us start standing up for the truth, being strong and courageous ,not being afraid of anything since God will be with us. Start now, and He will change you forever.
He is worthy and greatly to be praised
